The film opens with Arctic explorer Robert Walton (Aidan Quinn ) discovering Victor Frankenstein. Through flashbacks, Victor relates his happy childhood in Geneva, Switzerland; his studies in Ingolstadt, Germany; and then the story of his scientific experiment to create life.
