| - Olren Baran was a female Human and a lifelong member of the Jedi Order during the waning years of the time that would be known subsequently as the Dark Age. Born on Coruscant, the metropolitan capital world of the Galactic Republic, Baran ascended through the ranks of the Order until reaching the rank of Jedi Master and being granted a seat on the Jedi High Council prior to the emergence of the Brotherhood of Darkness. Throughout her life, Baran participated in the ongoing conflict between the Jedi and their ancestral enemies, the Sith. This came to a conclusion several decades after Baran's birth with the Ruusan campaign, which saw both the Jedi and the Sith engage in a drawn-out struggle over the planet that resulted in thousands of deaths on both sides. Eventually the Sith, led by Lord Skere Kaan, deployed a superweapon known as a thought bomb. One hundred Jedi, led by Lord Hoth, confronted the Sith at the deployment site of the bomb. Among these Jedi was Baran, whose spirit was trapped for over a thousand years after the bomb's detonation, along with the other Jedi and Sith who had been present. Just over a millennium later, Kyle Katarn, a self-taught Jedi, arrived on Ruusan and freed the spirits that had been trapped inside the thought bomb, finally allowing Baran to become one with the Force.
