Previous: France intervenes The British come to the rescue of their old enemies and newer allies, sending troops to back up Bavarian and French positions. The result is a defeat of the Austrians, though the Prussians hang on. The Austrians are stopped at Augsburg, then pushed back to their own border, where they lose several armies at the Battle of Salzburg. They desperately turn to the Prussians- but the Prussians can not help them, fighting a massive series of battles at Dusseldorf and Cologne. Austria surrenders on August 9th, 1885. (More to Come)

Northern Germany calls for an armistice three months later, on November 12th. The result is that large parts of Northern Germany are annexed to the new Kingdom of Bavaria, and the rest is split between the Kingdom of Saxony and that of Prussia.
