The Claw Swipe is the first attack learned from Bottles in Spiral Mountain in Banjo-Kazooie. It can be used simply by pressing the Image:B button (N64).png button either while stationary or moving slowly. When used, Banjo swipes at enemies with his claws and takes a couple of steps forward. Because of its very low power, slow execution time, and overall impracticality when fighting moving enemies, this attack is rarely used by players, although its simplicity makes it a good practice move for beginners to fight weaker enemies.

In Banjo-Tooie, this move is replaced by Kazooie's Peck attack, most likely so that Banjo could learn a new attack to fight on his own.
