Ryan (As he turns his hat backwards): “Yup.” Vivillon: “Vivi!” Clembot: Go, Magneton! Clembot: The battle is a 3 on 3 match. You are the only one allowed to make substitutions. Now Magneton, use Thunderbolt! Ryan (Thinking; looking at the hole): ‘Sheesh, how many times is this going to happen to me on this journey?’ Ryan: “Use Supersonic!” Clembot: Electric Terrain! Ryan: “Careful Vivillon! Use Poison Powder!” Clembot: Poison type moves have no effect on steel types. Metal Sound! Froakie: “Fro.” Ryan: “Though Water Types are weak against Electric Types, water can boost the power of electricity! Use Water Pledge!” Clembot: Thunderbolt! Ryan: “FROAKIE!” Ryan: “Okay, Pumpkaboo, let’s go!” Ryan: “Razor Leaf!” Clembot: Mirror Shot! Ryan: ”Dodge, and then Confuse Ray!” Clembot: Use Metal Sound! Magneton is too confused to understand. Ryan: “Leech Seed!” Clembot: Use Thunderbolt! Ryan: “Astonish!” Clembot: Now, use Mirror Shot! Ryan: “Okay, this isn’t working either.” He returns Pumpkaboo to her Pokeball. Then, he nods to Delphox, and she steps onto the battlefield. Ryan: “I know you said only three, but not only do they not have a chance because of not having enough training, Froakie wouldn’t have stood a chance period. And didn't” Clembot: This is your last Pokemon. Any more and you will be disqualified. This is breaking league rules, but I’ll allow it. Ryan (Thinking): “I feel so dirty for going through with this. But what we can try is the combo!” Clembot: Use Thunderbolt! Ryan: “Dodge, and use Ember!” Clembot: Emolga, use Quick Attack. Clembot: Now, Discharge! Ryan: “Ember!” Clembot: Use Aerial Ace! Ryan: “Okay, let’s bring it down a couple notches. Scratch!” Clembot: Use Iron Tail! Ryan: “Are you okay!? Ryan: “You sure?” Delphox: “Del.” Ryan: “Then use Psybeam!” Clembot: Aerial Ace! Ryan: “Ember and Psybeam!” Clembot: My final Pokemon. Use Dragon Tail! Ryan: “Alright Delphox, go!” Clembot: Use Parabolic Charge! Ryan: “Ember!” Ryan: “Psybeam!” Clembot: Dragon Tail! Ryan: “I believe in you Delphox, just focus!” Clembot: Congratulations on your victory. Here. Ryan: “I don’t deserve it. I cheated when I used Delphox. It’s not worth going into the league if I cheat to get there.” Ryan: “Hey Clembot, do you know how to get to the Pokeball Factory from Lumiose City? I think that’ll be next on my agenda before I battle another Gym.” Clembot: The Pokeball Factory is in Laverre City. Take Route 14 to get there. Ryan: “Is there any ocean access along the way?” He’s thinking about his decision the night before. Clembot: No. The nearest ocean area is Ambrette Town, but that is in the opposite direction to Laverre City. Ryan (His hand in his pocket): “Clembot, can I request something of you?” Clembot: What is the request? Ryan: “Since I’m going in the wrong direction, might I ask you, when the gym closes, to release this Lapras for me. The Pokeball doesn’t matter, I’ve got loads. It’s just that I promised Lapras I’d release her.” Clembot: Certainly. Narrator: Ryan fought Clembot and chose, Froakie, Vivillon and Pumpkaboo. However, they would have all fallen, like Froakie, and Clembot allowed Ryan to use Delphox, who later on beat Emolga, Magneton and Heliolisk, earning Ryan the Voltage Badge.
