Gibbs began his animation career with DePatie-Freleng, working on The Pink Panther and other theatrical shorts, as well as the studio's TV series (Here Comes the Grump, The Houndcats, and others) and assorted TV specials (including Dr. Seuss specials and Easter specials for Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck). He also animated on Spider Woman, and when the studio transitioned to Marvel Productions. Gibbs remained as an animation director. He directed on two Spider-Man series, The Incredible Hulk, and many toy-based series including G.I. Joe, Transformers, My Little Pony, Dungeons & Dragons, and Jem.
