| - The Barghast Warren was a long-dead Warren that was also known as the First Landing. It had been forgotten by the living Barghast and was decayed by the loss of mortal memory. Nevertheless, it was where Quick Ben suspected the Barghast travelled after death, assuming they made it that far. The Warren was a insect-filled swamp lit by a pallid, faintly yellow light. Rising from knee-deep, black and foul, swirling water were moss-covered cedar boles and low rises. High-prowed canoes lashed together by rope slowly rotted in the swamp while bundles of supplies on land were covered in mould and fungi. Sound was strangely muted but for the croaking of frogs and dripping of water. The air smelled faintly of saltwater. The Warren was inhabitated by the Barghast warriors who had not survived their race's long sea journey to Genabackis. They were squatter, wider, and more robustly boned than their more modern kin. They clearly resembled the mix of Imass and Toblakai blood that had spawned their race. Hooded brow-ridges hid their eyes and they wore their long, black hair parted down the centre and tied in rough braids. They wore close-fitting sealskins decorated with bone, antler, and shell and carried long, thin-bladed knives as well as harpoons made of bone.
