Citizendium is a ripoff of Wikipedia that attempts to create "reliable" articles that people can actually believe. It is actually a identity theft scam that is disguised as a wiki so people will give them their real names (It is a requirement; no pseudonyms are allowed. The "reason" they give is "professionalism"). Its articles must be approved for inaccuracy. It has only 2 approved articles and only about 400 articles that are non approved (though Wikipedia has over 456,647,567,654,764 articles). It requires dumb people with no college degrees to be "authors", which means they have no significance to the community and "editors" which actually edit and approve articles. - Citizendium is a wiki founded by philosophy professor Larry Sanger. Larry Sanger founded this project on the basis of his perception that Wikipedia has a weakness because anyone can edit it, thus Wikipedia is not expert written. Citizendium has a policy that anyone who want to contribute must have to acknowledge his/her full name and educational details. Citizendium label its editors as "expert" and claim the wiki is "expert written".

But this concept is criticized as a flawed concept. Critics pointed that the definition of "expert" is vague. From college students to lecturers, people in independent business, hobbyists - all the allowed to edit the wiki. None of them can be considered as an expert. Thus the users in Citizendium are same as the users in Wikipedia. Hence Citizendium is nothing but simply a Wikipedia twin with a thin veil in its external structure.
