Valery Aleksandrovich Bryusov was a Soviet linguist and cosmonaut who traveled to Minerva aboard the Soviet shuttle Tsiolkovsky. He was charged with teaching his comrades the Skarmer language and making contact with Fralk when the Soviets first landed. Later he was injured by a krong attack and could only be treated by American doctor Sarah Levitt.
