He graduated through the Rovers' youth system at the Bristol Academy of Sport in the summer of 2006, and was mainly used as a substitute throughout his career with the club, with 56 out of his 75 appearances in all competitions coming from the bench. He left the club to join Port Vale, a club where he had previously been on loan, after being released in the summer of 2010.

Sean was involved in controversy during Rovers' FA Cup first round game at Barrow in 2006, when he was punched in the face by Barrow player James Cotterill, breaking his jaw. Cotterill was sentenced to four months in prison for the assault.
