It was announced by ORF on 19 December 2016 that Nathan would represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kiev, and in February 2017 it was announced he will sing Running on Air. At the time of his selection, he was among the candidates for the 2017 German selection, but had to withdraw from the competition.
