However, a virus was infiltrating the computers and corrupting Cybertronian brain modules across Kaon. Soundwave was among the infected Cybertronians, causing him to go him mad. A vaccine was concocted, however its effects on Soundwave were greater than the others. The vaccine was administrasted to him while he tried to fire his ultrasonics at civilians, and instead ended up blasting himself in the head. Combine that with vaccine being administered beforehand, this ending up causing every emotion Soundwave ever had to be deleted. He was thus mentally transformed into a cold engine of logic. Meeting Megatron on the ourskirts of the city, logic dictating that he would to be itentional for the unification of Cybertron. Thus Soundwave joined the Decepticons; and was put in charge of two mini-con communications experts and espionages Laserbeak & Ravage, and demolitions expert Frenzy. following Megatron wherever he set his sights on. You can see why he became part of Megatron's team on Earth (other members including his mini-cons, Starscream, Shockwave, Thundercracker, Barricade, and Skywarp).
