Warren Mahy is a fantasy artist born in New Zealand, who around 1999 joined Weta Workshop to work on Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, along with Mahy's friend Ben Wootten. He and Wootten were employed in Weta as concept designers, and Mahy's concept sketches of Shelob, Orc armor, Grond, and Haradrim warriors were featured, alongside his commentary, in the book The Art of The Return of the King. As an artist, Mahy also contributes to the card-game Magic: The Gathering.
