Sir Andrew, Lord Westly as he was officially known in the U.K, or Andrew Curry, Earl of Westly as he is most commony called, was the founder of the Green Army, and is credited with taking South California for Great Britain. He was born Andrew Curry (17 October 1823, Dublin, Ireland). The details of Curry's early childhood are unknown. He was ultimately taken in by a deputy to Stratford Canning, British Ambassador to the United States. Curry is known to have been schooled in New York City until 1845, when he volunteered to be a British plant in Mexico under the title of Ambassador.
