Cyril's ex-wife Rita comes back into his life as her Auntie Beryl has died and it looks as if there is money to come. Glenys gets jealous and tries to make Cyril notice her but he is too busy dreaming of how to spend this money.

- 11 year old Jeff inherits Lassie from his dead neighbor Homer Carey due to Homer's will stating that Jeff would get Lassie when he dies. Jeff is excited to get Lassie.The judge then tells Jeff to bring her outside however Lassie is brought out by Matt Willis who she growls at,because she wants to guard the money thats hidden at Careys house and prevent it from being stolen.Jeff at that point asks Lassie what is wrong and starts to think Lassie does not remember him. Jeff tries to play fetch with Lassie but Lassie does not fetch the stick.Edgar comes out and says that she can't fetch and dares Jeff to make Lassie fetch which Lassie does not obey.Edgar laughs and calls her dopey and Jeff responds by calling Edgars baseball cards dopey and knocking the pile out of his hands.Edgar then tells J

While there with Lassie He finds the hidden money and Carey's former employee Matt Willis who has been searching for this money comes in. Matt asks for the money from Jeff who knows it is not Matts,responds that it does not belong to him.Matt forcefully steals the money,locks Jeff and Lassie in and runs off.Lassie breaks through the window and goes to find help.The mailman seeing what had happen stops by and is told by Jeff what had happened.He and Jeff go off to help Lassie find Matt.Lassie finds Matt getting into the rowboat at edge the lake and she pounces on him which makes him fall in the lake and attacks him.Jeff and The Mailman arrive there and the Mali man knocks Matt out and gives the money to Jeff.Lassie knowing the money is in safe hands does not runaway again.Later on Lassie proves to Jeff that she wants to be with him by fetching the stick and running back to him.
