A Popular Monarchy is any form of Monarchy in which the title of the Monarch refers to the People of a nation rather than the nation itself. One of the most well-known popular monarchs historically was Mary I of Scotland who styled herself as Mary, Queen of Scots. In modern-day Belgium the reigning monarch is known as King/Queen of the Belgians, making it the only macronational popular monarchy.
