The crew travel on the ship Infernal Voyage that after the timeskip was inproved to a beter version the Black River by Goro. After having seen how strong the Navy and the Pirates of the new world are strong, Katsu made the decision to all split up into groups of two by two years, and Kazuo stayed alone with the boat and Katsu having traveled to his hometown without anyone else. The captain of the crew, Katsu have participated in the The Phoenix War, soon after having separated from his companions and thereafter began his training.
