Under the direction of Lieutenant Svek, he was instrumental in averting a warp core breach initiated by sabotage. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "True North") Aboard the Pendragon, Caar became friends with many of the "lower decks" crewmen. As a petty officer, and later chief petty officer, Caar served in the Pendragon's engineering department until 2382, when he replaced Jason Bartholomew as transporter chief. He remained in that position at least until 2385, at which time he was also chief of the boat. (PDN: "The Hand of God")
