  • Tieflings most often exhibit physical aspects of their ancestry, like tails, talons, goat legs, horns... Some also suffer mental disabilities.
  • Tieflings tend to superficially resemble their mortal parent or parents, but they always hold some indicator of their fiendish heritage - some less prominent, some more. For some, this is as minor as small horn-nubs or rough skin. Others hold goat-like legs or feathers in place of hair. Horns and tails of all sorts are common, as are pointed ears, and those with unnatural tones tend to have skin in shades of red or orange and eyes of white or black. While most tieflings are born with their fiendish features, others don't receive them for many years after birth - most commonly puberty in this case, but rarely at other times - appearing wholly mortal to all observations before that point.
  • Because of their striking appearances, tieflings are often discriminated against. As a result, many tieflings live their lives as hermits or outcasts. In rare cases, tieflings might form enclaves among themselves. In societies that are more tolerant, tieflings tend to adopt the culture of their parents, and live normally.
  • Tieflings are planetouched creatures native to Golarion, mostly human, yet with the blood of demons, devils, demodands, or other evil outsiders in their veins. Also known colloquially (and somewhat pejoratively) as hellspawn, they are often distrusted and feared for this evil lineage. Even in infernal Cheliax where some tieflings serve as middlemen between the people and the denizens of Hell, they are second-class citizens at best.

  • Tiefling is a player character race in 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons.[PH:48][HotFK:270]
  • Tieflings are the distant descendant of some evil outsider, such as a demon, devil, night hag, rakshasa or even some servant of an evil deity. Elves and orcs with fiendish heritage are known to exist but those are distinct lines and are not true tieflings. Tieflings look human except for one or two distinguishing features: small horns, fangs, hooves, forked tongue, goat-like legs, tail, glowing red or cat eyes or furry, leathery, scaly, red or bruised blue skin.
  • Some tieflings have a minor physical trait suggesting their heritage, such as pointed teeth, red eyes, small horns, the odor of brimstone, cloven feet, or just an unnatural aura of wrongness. Those descended from an infernal minion often carry a birthmark of the deity's holy symbol or another trait related to that evil faith.

  • Heirs to an ancient, infernal bloodline, tieflings make their way in a world that often fears or resents them. Centuries of other races' distrust and outright hatred have made tieflings self-reliant and often too willing to live up to the stereotypes imposed on them. However, when a tiefling's companions demonstrate that they trust him or her, the tiefling quickly learns to extend the same trust to them, becoming a firm friend and ally for life.
  • Tieflings are the product of human-fiend crossbreeding. They are similar to cambions, their half-human, half-fiend counterpart, though tieflings are the result of half-fiends breeding with ordinary mortals Tieflings tend to have an unsettling air about them, and most people feel uncomfortable around them. Most tieflings retain some physical characteristics of their demon parents; the most common features being horns, tails and pointed teeth, while others have more subtle markings such as unusual skin or eye color.
  • Burdened by their race’s past, tieflings walk through life haunted by their dark and sinister bloodline. Their devilish appearance has prevented many from earning the trust of their human neighbors, making them very solitaire. Thus, many tieflings have come to rely on dark magic and guile in order to survive, making them excellent Warlocks. Their infernal heritage also allows them a predisposition towards magic and many tieflings become powerful Wizards.
  • A tiefling (pronounced either as /'ti.flɪŋ/ or /'taɪ.flɪŋ/) is a creature in the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. Tieflings are planetouched — descended from evil creatures of the outer planes — fiends, (not daemons or the like) evil deities, and other evil creatures. Although their evil ancestor may be many generations removed, the taint lingers.
  • This race comes from the Shield region. In ages past, a great catastrophe destroyed their homeland, breaking it apart into islands. Before the disaster, they were known to be innovative artificers and warlords. Legends (or ghost stories) recount that their benevolent ruling council (made of 5 tieflings: 2 warlords, 2 artificers, 1 other) was destroyed by plague. So they sent messengers to every corner of Aelan, calling for entrants into a great magical competition. The winner would rule the tieflings into a new age of prosperity. The top wizards of many nations gathered together but were never seen again. None who witnessed the competition survived the catastrophe (at least no one admits they were there). Magical students in the area discovered the warlock way shortly afterward, although s
  • Carrying the taint of Evil in their very souls, tieflings are persecuted and feared in most parts of Faerun. Those with gross physical alterations are often killed at birth, and even those with less noticeable physical traits are sometimes killed by their own horrified parents. Occasionally a Tiefling is born to someone indifferent to it's appearance, determined to redeem it, willing to exploit it, or Evil enough not to care about it's nature, and these Tieflings are most likely to survive to adulthood. Most Tieflings are Evil, but a few have managed to overcome their bloodline's influence to make their own choices about Good and Evil. Even if they manage to overcome their evil blood, doing good feels awkward or just down right wrong.
  • Tieflings were human-based planetouched, native outsiders that were infused with the touch of the fiendish planes, most often through descent from fiends—demons, Yugoloths, devils, evil deities, and others who had bred with humans. Tieflings were known for their cunning and personal allure, which made them excellent deceivers as well as inspiring leaders when prejudices were laid aside. Similar races included fey'ri, maeluth, tanarukk, and wisplings.
  • Following in the footsteps of 4e, with a unified (if still very variable) appearance and a tiefling racial backlore as "descendants of a cursed empire" rather than "spawn of a human and a fiend". Tieflings are derived from human bloodlines and they still look semi-human. However, their infernal heritage has left a clear imprint on their appearance (D&D 5th Ed).
