| - Jack Harkness seemed to see him as one "cursed" with intelligence; Jack said he thought Oswald was smart enough to know who he was, and to want to end his life as a result. After being freed from prison by legal loopholes, Oswald was persuaded to become PhiCorp's spokesman for their medicines by Jilly Kitzinger for protection from people who still wished him dead. Eventually, he met with Torchwood and helped them in their plan to return humanity's mortality, as he had grown tired of his new life and wished to die. He killed himself and the Mother willingly, hoping for an enjoyable afterlife, even in Hell.
- Oswald Danes was a main character in Torchwood: Miracle Day. He was a dedicated 4channer, who allahu ackbar'd the planet's bloody vagina to save the day. Which is to say, yes, he was a Russell T. Davies character. He was played with characteristic charm and aplomb by Bill Pullman (Rest In Peace), in between seasons of Big Love.

Has literally no character arc or development whatsoever - and even when placed face to face with the darkness of his soul apparently accepts who he is and dies an unrepentant pedo child murderer; actually taking pride in this in his last moments. Epic. Apparently making a pointless, despicable character who never redeems himself was intentional, because they didn't want to "outright redeem this horrible, horrible man." Wow, thanks for subjecting us to his terrible presence in 8 episodes for nothing. Even worse, he grew to be a strangely likeable anti-hero toward the end of the series, so now you have the audience actually sympathizing with him. Bravo.
