| - A going-away party was a gathering held to honor an individual who was leaving the company of others. In 2151, several crew members of Enterprise NX-01 planned a going-away party for T'Pol. Doctor Phlox warned her about it while discussing her upcoming transfer off the starship. (ENT: "Shadows of P'Jem") Later, when asked by Trip Tucker whether anything frightened her, T'Pol recalled the daunting prospect of having such a party. (ENT: "Oasis") In the first draft script of "Shadows of P'Jem" (written while the episode had the working title "Untitled Andorians Return"), Phlox instead only speculated that such a party might take place, saying he "wouldn't be surprised if several of the senior officers" were planning one. Phlox also referred to this celebration as a "surprise party" in the same script, rather than a "going away party." In the final draft of the episode's teleplay, however, the potential party was depicted exactly as it is, on screen. In 2154, Tucker was to have a going-away party in Enterprise's mess hall due to his pending transfer to the Columbia. He invited T'Pol, but she continued to express her surprise that he was moving on. (ENT: "Affliction")
