  • This is an Ultima V: Lazarus-related article or section. The information within may not apply to Ultima V or other Ultima games. The mystical Moongates may be used to teleport from place to place in a great hurry. Moongates are luminescent blue doors that serve as the magical equivalent of wormholes between two different locations in Britannia- always found in a circle of eight large stones, with a smaller circle of 8 small stones within. There are two moons orbiting Britannia, Trammel and Felucca. In Ultima V: Lazarus, they operate on a 28-day bi-lunar cycle. With a few small exceptions (see table), Trammel changes phase every night at midnight, and Felucca changes phase at midnight of every other day. * At 8 PM every night, each of the eight moongates opens. Going into any moongate will take you to the location which corresponds to the phase of the moon currently in closest to midheaven. Trammel (the first moon to rise and set) is always closest from 8 PM to 11:30 PM, and Felucca (the second moon) is always closest from 12:30 AM to 5 AM. For example, going into any moongate while the currently ascending moon is full will take you to the moongate outside of Minoc. If you're already at the Minoc moongate, then it won't take you anywhere at all. * From 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM each night (while the moons are equidistant above the horizon), any moongate will take you to the Shrine of Spirituality. * All eight moongates close at 5 AM, immediately before the sunrise.
