Ryoga has gotten himself lost in a strange forest. He settles for eating a single, puny mushroom for dinner. After swallowing it a man jumps out of the bushes and begs him not to eat it. The puny mushroom happened to be the mushroom of time, which makes its consumer age depending on the height of the mushroom at the time of consumption. The mushroom Ryoga ate was 5 cm tall, so he regresses into a five year old. He decides to take some of the mushrooms and grow it to be 16 cm so he can turn back to his age. Ranma end up bothering him, and as a retaliation Ryoga makes Ranma eat some of the short mushrooms, prompting Ranma to also turn into a five year old.

Ranma end up bothering him, and as a retaliation Ryoga makes Ranma eat some of the short mushrooms, prompting Ranma to also turn into a five year old. Other people familiar with the two take advantage of their de-aged state and delay their trip back to the forest. They eventually find two mushrooms and start growing it. Akane tries to keep the mushrooms safe while Ranma and Ryoga constantly try to sabotage each other's mushroom. They end up destroying what they thought were the last of the mushrooms and fall into a mental shock at the thought of having to live the 11 years all over again. Akane, meanwhile, had some extra mushrooms hidden away.
