Giant rust monster is a type of monster in ADOM. Far more of a nuisance than lesser rust monsters, they not only can rust iron-made equipment in melee range and likewise instantly destroy rusty equipment, but attack several times per turn and bypass the PC's PV with each attack. They are also a lot tougher and stronger than other rust monsters. Whether or not the PC is relying on iron items by the time (s)he meets one, they are best dealt with from a distance. If the PC is worried about their rusting abilities, rust monsters can have their rusting powers 'cured' by throwing an oil of rust removal at them; this also removes their penetrating attack.

| - Like their lesser brothers, giant rust monsters were trapped in the Drakalor Chain against their will. These huge creatures suffer a lot from the inadequacy of their new environment. As they never seem to find enough minerals and metals to keep themselves fed, they are constantly in a very bad mood and attack everything that moves. At some point in the past giant rust monsters seem to have undergone a magical transformation of some kind. They are a lot stronger and more cunning compared to the various lesser rust monsters. Additionally they sport four tentacles on their head, which rust everything they manage to touch.
