The 1953 Raleigh 300 was a Grand National (now Sprint Cup) event held at Raleigh Speedway on May 30, 1953. Tim Flock appeared to have the best car, but when his monkey co-pilot Jocko Flocko started acting up, Flock had to pit to rid of the primate. Instead, it was Fonty Flock picking up the victory after starting in the 43rd position. Eventual season champion Herb Thomas finished 4th. Stats
