  • Daniel Prometheus Mansfield (born 9 June 2423, died 29 December 2525) was President of Aloria and a member of the Moderate Libertarian Party. Mansfield was the son of Winfeld and Cary Mansfield, both school teachers in the Ultran Province. He was the oldest of nine children. He married Henrieta Scott on 17 May 2450. They had five children: Daniel Jr., Margarette, Taylor, Penelope and Sally. Before becoming president, Mansfield earned a BA degree from the University of Ultran and MA and PhD from Krentori University. After graduating with his PhD in 2453, he taught in the fields of philosophy and ethics at Sildar City College and Ultran University. Mansfield later became Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at Krentori University. Mansfield's books included the textbooks Meaning and Truth in Ethics (2454), Introductory Readings in Ethics (2457), The Freer Market (2459), and An Introduction to Philosophical Analysis of Politics (2461). He also wrote the personal narrative A World Gone Dim: The Loss of a Wife and Daughter (2521), and a post-presidency autobiography, Call Me Libertarian: A Political Future for All (2523). He was editor of two national anthologies and contributed to books edited by several others. He authored about 140 articles in various scholarly and popular journals. Before becoming president, Mansfield was editor of both The Libertine (2464-2471) and of The Monetary Politico (2468-2479). He was also an editor of Moderate Libertarian magazine from 2481 until he first ran for president in 2484. Known for his mild termperment and strong work ethic, Mansfield served three non-consecutive terms as Alorian President from 2484-2490, 2493-2505, and 2508-2520. In 2517, both his wife and youngest daughter were killed in a car accident in Libertia. Mansfield advisors said he fell into a deep depression thereafter and, as a result, decided not to run for reelection. Mansfield's 30 years in office made him both the longest serving Alorian president as well as the longest serving president elected on the Moderate Libertarian Party ticket. During his third and final term he also became Aloria's oldest serving president leaving office at age 97. Mansfield retired to his home in Ultran Province after his final term. He died there at the age of 102 of complications from pneumonia.
