The weapon's quality was below average, itself being made with subpar materials, forcing rebel soldiers who were issued the weapon to modify it themselves to prevent issues that were present in production models such as frequent jamming. When the UNSC returned to the planet in 2556, many rebel soldiers ditched their Mark 1's, preferring to take MA5D rifles from UNSC troops. By the 2600's, the remaining seven Mark 1's were in the Museum of Humanity
