Hale is the state capital of the U.S. state of Huron, the fifth-largest city in the state and the county seat of Middlesex County. Located approximately halfway between Yorktown and Detroit in West Huron, it is an important urban center in the "Yorktroit" urban corridor. Since 1868, it has been the state capital of Huron and is home to the University of Western Huron, thus making it an important center of industry, higher education and government. Hale had a population of 378,788 at the 2010 census, and the Middlesex County GMA is 512,517 as of then. Since the early 2000s, Hale has seen an urban revitilization and is currently Huron's fastest-growing city. Located at the meeting-point of I-69 and I-96 in Huron, it is an important transportation center as well.
