  • Luring is the ability to lure others and make them slavishly devoted and willing to do anything to please the user. Luring works on sexuality and temptation and often only works on the opposite sex. The effects of this power can also be achieved through Spell Casting, as proven by the Evil Enchantress.
  • Luring is a term most often used to describe a player tricking or deceiving another player by leading them to a dangerous place, oftentimes in the Wilderness. Since 28 March 2007, it has been considered scamming. Luring is usually done when victims have a sizable amount of wealth with them, so that when they die, they will lose a certain number of items or cash to the lurer, who then proceeds to pick it up. Since the return of the Wilderness, luring has become much more common and highly lucrative and the rules concerning luring have become more ambiguous. However, even so, luring is considered to be undesirable player behaviour and should be reported as 'scamming'.
  • Luring is the act of one player luring another player into a dangerous area, with the intention of killing them or letting them be killed by other people or NPC's. This can be done for two main reasons. The first, and most common is to gain the items that the player is wearing or has in their inventory. This form is commonly considered to be an act of griefing. The second, less frequent reason (normally employed for killing by characters other than the lurer) is for the amusement of watching the other player get killed. Whether the second form is considered griefing or not depends on the circumstances.
  • Luring is to move a Creature from it natural Spawn point to a certain place. This could be making the Creature to follow the lurer or roping up the Creature. Normally, monsters can be lured 50 squares from their spawn, and raid monsters can be lured without restrictions, and some monsters may have smaller luring range to avoid abuse, like the slime under Carlin. Lurers do this to kill people they dislike (especially in Non-PvP Worlds where you can't attack other people, or to kill on PvP without getting a skull). Luring is considered against the Tibia Rules in non-pvp worlds and could ruin your reputation. It is not always bad, as players usually lure Creatures to use them for training, and for special occasions, like making Zoo's etc. The August 2005 update introduced a new feature where

This was intended to eliminate luring. However, some Paladins have reported having trouble killing Giant Spiders, because of the popular tactic of running while shooting over their shoulder. This causes the Giant Spider to disappear while still engaged in combat with the Paladin. Similar problems may exist with the other spawns (example, Valkyrie). Bosses, monsters that spawn from quests and monsters from raids are not restricted by the normal "anti-luring" boundaries. Image:Giant Spider.gif

Areas where these techniques were used: * The Wilderness (players lose all items and do not get a gravestone here) * Clan Wars red portal (players lose all items and do not get a gravestone here) * Entrana Law Altar * Areas with hard-hitting aggressive monsters In the wilderness, luring is usually done by a single person that has a team waiting in the Wilderness.

Purportedly, there have been many players who have gained substantial amounts of wealth through luring. Players may lure for wealth or for fun.
