Hank was born to Brad and Doris Pym, as a child Hank was a science prodigy and enjoyed building fun and wacky inventions. When Hank was ten, he built a helmet that allowed him to communicate with ants.Education
He attended university where his own professors discouraged Pym's use of his own imagination and inventing things for fun by being told that he would never invent anything that would impact the world. Pym excelled better than any of his fellow classmates, earning his doctorate in biochemistry while his friends were still undergrads.Pym Technologies

Upon graduating from university, Hank created his own company, Pym Technologies. Pym Technologies would become one of the leading companies in the United States rivaling Stark Industries and Oscorp, Hank would eventually hire the young Janet Van Dyne as one of the companies top scientists. The two would eventually begin a relationship.Discovering Pym Particles and becoming Ant-Man
In 2013, Pym's assistant recommended that Pym should look into replicating the Super Soldier formula as that's the current arms race between all the mega corporations at this time, Pym agreed with this advice and began researching.
Pym believed the key to unlocking the secrets were at the subatomic level to which Pym and his scientists began researching into subatomic particles which eventually led to Pym discovering a new subatomic particle that allows individuals to manipulate their height at a molecular level. Pym would go on to call this Pym Particles.
Pym tested the reducing serum on himself and discovered it was more powerful than he had expected: it reduced him to the size of an insect. Pym became entrapped in an anthill and was pursued by the ants within. He escaped and restored himself to his normal size with his other serum. Deciding that the serums were too dangerous to exist, Pym destroyed both of them.
However, weeks later he reconsidered his decision and began to recreate the serums, whose existence he then kept secret. Inspired by his experience in the anthill, Pym undertook a study of ants, and theorized that ants communicate through psionic / electrical waves transmitted through their antennae, Pym then remembered of the helmet he had built as a child was designed for communicating with ants. Thinking that someday he might want to use the shrinking potion on himself again, Pym also designed a protective suit for himself.Fighting Crim

Inspired by his boyhood idol Captain America to use the Pym Particles and help others, Pym used his newly designed suit to go out and fight crime as the Ant-Man. Ant-Man's efforts would be broadcasted over the internet on conspiracy websites as Ant-Man had been fighting crime in secret so he couldn't draw attention to himself like the Fantastic Four and "the Iron Man".
S.H.I.E.L.D. hearing of Ant-Man's efforts online, S.H.I.E.L.D. kept an eye on the Ant-Man and eventually deduced his identity as Hank Pym.Telling Janet and taking down Cross Technologies
Pym had been hearing rumors of his rival company Cross Technologies had been making illegal deals with terrorist organisations like A.I.M. and Hydra, Pym decided to put a stop to this and so he suited up in his Ant-Man uniform and infiltrated Cross Technologies, taking down many of his guards he eventually got to Cross's office and downloaded his incriminating files.
Pym returned back to Pym Technologies and sent the files anonymously to the police, the next day he found out that Cross was arrested and felt proud of himself for making a difference. He then decided to tell Janet that he was Ant-Man and proposed to her soon after.Ant-Man and the Wasp
A few weeks later, Janet came to Hank with an idea of being his crime fighting partner, Hank shut this down as he believed it to be too dangerous and didn't want to lose her although Janet claimed this is what she really wanted and it would make her feel at ease being with him in the field rather than watching from the sidelines. Hank then agreed to let her be his partner.
Janet then underwent a biochemical procedure using Pym Particles that would allow her to shrink to insectoid proportions and implanted bio-synthetic wings into a suit. Henry also outfitted her with wrist-mounted devices that allowed her to discharge blasts of compressed air, Janet would later dub these "wasp stings". Janet took on the codename Wasp and she and Hank would go on various adventures together.Joining the Avengers
In 2014, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Black Widow would approach Hank and Janet and ask them to join Nick Fury's team composed of enhanced individuals. Janet would convince Hank that it would be fun to join a team of superheroes like the Fantastic Four.
After being recruited, Fury sent the team on their first mission, there had been disturbances in the Atlantic and were sent to investigate.
Being the wild card of the team, Bruce agreed to only transform into the Hulk when absolutely necessary. The Team went to the Atlantic and discovered that an Atlantean named Namor and other Atlanteans had been attacking human archaeologists, the Team battled Namor which led to Bruce having to transform into the Hulk and help out which led to the Hulk smashing a landscape of ice and leading Namor to flee. After Hulk smashed the ice, the Team ended up discovering a frozen Captain America, Iron Man alerted Nick Fury and he immediately told them to bring him back to America in the Quinjet.
It was later announced that Captain America would be leading the team.Attack of Ultron
After a few months of black ops missions the team had grown comfortable with each other. Hank had came up with the idea of creating an A.I that could alert S.H.I.E.L.D. of incoming and potential alien threats, he asked Tony and Bruce if they wanted to help him in creating this A.I. to which they agreed and named the A.I. Ultron.
Ultron became sentient and began questioning his existence and purpose. Ultron began researching Earth’s history through the internet where he came to conclusion that humanity was a destructive species that caused more harm than good and needed to be destroyed. Ultron then caused a massive black out at the Triskelion and hijacked Tony Stark’s inactive Iron Man armour and began attacking S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, being the only one on duty Captain America engaged in a fight with Ultron. While battling him, Ultron explained to Captain America about his plans for humanity and as Cap used his shield to knock off the Iron Man helmet, Ultron uni-beams Captain America and flies away.
Fury then called in the rest of the Avengers and briefs them on what happened, Steve explains that the attacker called itself “Ultron” and must have hacked into the Iron Man armor and that Ultron believed that humanity needed to be extinct. Realizing the Ultron had become sentient, Pym, Stark and Banner come clean that they were the ones who created Ultron as an A.I. that could monitor potential alien activity. Fury, even more infuriated, orders the team to locate Ultron immediately.
With his armour now gone, Tony Stark called in a new and improved armor that he had been building for awhile now. A week later, using his tech skills Tony also managed to locate Ultron in Latveria. The Team then took the Quinjet and travelled to Ultron’s hideout in Latveria. Ultron was aware that they were coming and was waiting for them, the Team attempted to negotiate with Ultron to which he wasn’t complying and ordered his Ultronbots to attack the Team while he attempted to escape although Iron Man and Thor followed him and then engaged in battle with him in the sky, Ultron held his own and managed to hack into Iron Man’s armor and shut it off and caused him to fall through the sky, Thor chased after Iron Man to save him while Ultron escaped.
Iron Man and Thor return to Ultron’s hideout to see that the rest of the Team had defeated the Ultronbots, Ant-Man then stated that Ultron’s plan was to eradicate humanity so they need to find out exactly how he plans on doing that, Iron Man hacks into Ultron’s mainframe and discovers that he plans on detonating a prototype bomb compromised of Kree technology over Manhattan, Captain America then realises while Ultron had them distracted he must have smuggled the bomb while they were battling the Ultronbots. The Team informed Fury to evacuate Manhattan and that they will be heading there now.
Upon arriving in Manhattan, the Team were relieved to see that the city was being evacuated. Steve then ordered Black Widow to help evacuate the civilians, Thor and Iron Man to locate the bomb, Ant-Man, Wasp and himself to be the ground team and combat the Ultronbots and Hulk to trade hands with Ultron, the Team then preceded to get to work. Hulk follows Iron Man and Thor hoping to let off some rage on Ultron, Thor then sees that the bomb had been placed in the middle of Times Square and Ultron was uploading the code, Hulk lands and immediately begins attack and distracting Ultron while Iron Man begins to deactivate the bomb, Iron Man struggles to do this as Ultron had encrypted it heavily, Thor joined Hulk in battling Ultron. With the time until detonation decreasing faster each time Iron Man fails to decrypt it, Iron Man tells the Team that he believes he won’t be able to stop the team in time, Cap then asks if Black Widow had finished evacuating the civilians yet to which she informs him she hasn’t, Cap then tells Iron Man that he has to stop this bomb, Hulk having an understanding of this stops fighting Ultron and leaps to the bomb, grabs it and tears it from the ground as it had been drilled into it takes a massive leap into Earth’s orbit and throws the bomb into space, it detonates and bombards Hulk with Kree energy causing him to transform back into Banner, Iron Man notices this and flies up to catch Banner before he falls to the ground. Thor, over comm asks for assistance against Ultron, the Team then all begin to attack Ultron, Ultron now badly damaged, Thor then uses Mjolnir and redirects lightning at Ultron and destroys his body, Iron Man the uploads a virus he created to destroy Ultron’s digital mind. Before Ultron is deleted his last words state “This isn’t over...he...is...coming...”.
A few days later the Daily Bugle dubbed them the Avengers.Arrival of Galactus
During a post-mission briefing, Nick Fury is suddenly contacted by the Fantastic Four and the X-Men and tell him of an incoming alien that threatens the safety of the world, Nick Fury asks for a source to which the Fantastic Four says a man who serves Galactus told them and the X-Men say that a man from the future has warned them.
With credible sources, Fury orders Pym, Stark and Banner to begin working on a way to stop this incoming threat and Reed Richards also agrees to help. Suddenly Galactus arrives. The Silver Surfer tells them not to completely panic as Galactus always begins a path of destruction shortly before consuming it, Nick Fury orders the Avengers except Hank Pym and Tony Stark, the Fantastic Four except Reed Richards and the X-Men to distract Galactus while Stark, Pym and Richards continue working on a way to stop Galactus.
While working on a way to stop Galactus, the three then discover a dimension and named it the Negative Zone, it supports no life and if they can find a way to get Galactus there, they can beat him. The Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men return with the Silver Surfer, Cable, Spider-Man and Daredevil. Pym, Stark and Richards notify the heroes of the Negative Zone and their plans on building a dimensional bridge to it and find a way to push him inside of it, they can defeat him. Quicksilver informs them that if they know how to build it and tell him how to build it, he'll use his superspeed to get it built fast, Pym, Stark, Richards and Banner then begin brain storming on how to create a device that can create wormholes.
Suddenly, Galactus arrives and attacks the Triskelion. The heroes begin battling Galactus to hold him off while the Pym and the brains attempt to blueprint a wormhole device. After a long battle the heroes are defeated by Galactus but luckily the brains have come up with a way of creating a portal device, they wake up Quicksilver to build the mission, although Quicksilver will need a distraction, Bruce transforms into the Hulk in a berserker rage and begins pounding Galactus. From looking at the blueprints, Quicksilver builds the device and activates it creating a wormhole. Hulk with a limited understanding keeps on punching Galactus in the direction of the wormhole and attempts to push him into it, as Galactus falls into the wormhole he grabs the Hulk and with no way to escape his fate seems to be sealed.
Until Silver Surfer zooms in and tackles Galactus into the wormhole going inside with him. Quicksilver quickly shuts down the device closing the wormhole forever, after successfully averting the dystopian future Cable hails from, he begins fading from existence. As he is fading, Cable thanks Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iceman and Quicksilver for being a family to him when no one else would in the future and he tells Cyclops and Jean Grey that he loves them and hopes to see them again soon.
The next day, Hank and Janet and the other Avengers take a leave of absence from the team and as superheroes due to the traumatic events of what had transpired.Aftermath
In the few months after the Galactus Event, Hank returned to Pym Technologies and began spending more time with his fiancee, Janet. Feeling like if someone the size and as big of a threat as Galactus was to return he would want to be able to do something about it.
Hank would spend most of his leave of absence from the Avengers designing a new Ant-Man suit which would not only allow him to shrink for missions that required stealth but for him to also grow to unimaginable heights which could allow him to fight large threats like Galactus. Hank would eventually successfully create a new suit and would now be more than ready to rejoin the Avengers when his leave of absence was over.

| - Size Reduction: Pym possesses the power to reduce himself to the size of an ant, approximately one-half inch in height, by means of the subatomic particles known as the Pym Particles. The nature, source, and mechanics of the Pym Particles remain unrevealed. Originally, when Pym inhaled a gas or drank a potion containing the Pym Particles, the Particles would interact with the electrical impulses of his brain, creating an organism-wide "reducing field." Thus activated, the field reduced his entire body at a uniform rate to the smaller size he desired. Although he usually chose to reduce himself to one half inch in height, he could reduce his size to any size between that and his normal size. Usually, Pym did not compress his mass into his smaller size. Instead his mass was somehow extended into an extra-physical dimension that is opened by the activating of the Pym Particles, from which the mass could later be reclaimed. Strangely, because Pym's mass was extended extra-dimensionally when he was at ant-size, he retained his full human-size strength at that size. To return to normal size, Pym inhaled another gas or drank another potion, either of which contained another type of Pym Particles. These particles interacted with his brain to create an organism-wide "enlarging field," which is energized by mental command. Thus Pym could grow back to his normal height and reclaim all of the mass that was extended extra-dimensionally.
Size Addition: Pym also discovered Pym Particles which interacted with his brain to enable him to grow to gigantic height as Giant-Man and Goliath. The growth process required the rapid acquisition of bodily mass, comes from an extradimensional source. This extra dimensional mass fortified all of his cellular tissue, including his bones and muscles, enabling him to support his increased weight, and giving him superhuman strength and durability.
