doesn't exist any longer and they stopped making this boat in 1970 anyway. You probably would have a hard time even finding one to purchase used. Many other older model boats are reviewed on Wikipedia. Anyway, the article is repeated here, I guess that's what I'm supposed to do. Ericson yachts started in Costa Mesa California in the 1960’s. It was sold and resold. A total of 625 Ericson 29’s were built between 1970 and 1979. Many of these boats still have the original Atomic 4. Properly maintained it is a reliable, quiet, and powerful engine. Based on the sail area displacement ratio and the displacement length ratio most people would consider this boat more in tune with cruising than racing. I found PHRF ratings180 and 192. There was a sail plan change once during production. The hull is reinforced hand-laid fiberglass. The keel is cast lead, but unlike many production boats of this size it is internal. That is, it is covered in fiberglass faired to the hull. Like most quality boats of this length and type the deck is end grain balsa sandwiched between hand-layed up reinforced fiberglass. There are two cockpit versions. One is for tiller steered boats and the other is a split cockpit with a bridge deck that supports the binnacle and wheel. The traditional lay out inside has a double quarter berth aft that is nearly 5 feet wide. Both settees and berths are 6 feet long. The port side settee requires the sleeper to open a panel that allows his/her feet to extend into the hanging closet. Amenities, roominess and quality of construction are above average for a production boat of this size. It is a joy to sail. Specifications follow.
