abstract
  • Shortly after the beginning of the Dark Order War, the Kuat system was captured by the Dark Order of Korr, a faction of the Imperial Remnant led by Jaden Korr. In the aftermath of losses sustained before Jaden's takeover of the organization, it required large production facilities to rebuild and repair its forces, which was the chief reason for the occupation of Kuat. Although the Dark Order was able to produce numerous Imperial warships while Kuat was under its control, the shipyards had previously ran low on supplies, requiring additional resources to be delivered. Otherwise, production would slow down and eventually cease. In a response, Korr ordered three supply convoys to be sent to Kuat to replenish its stockpiles of needed materials. New Republic Fleet Intelligence, having known that the shipyards were low on resources, assembled the Evening Star Task Force and deployed it at the edge of the Kuat system to prevent any Imperial supplies from getting through to the shipyards. To decrease the chances of any incoming transports reaching the large fleet at Kuat, the task force split up into three smaller groups which covertly and independently circled the system. There were three engagements with Imperial convoys during the Shipyards of Kuat Campaign with one Republic victory, one stalemate, and one defeat. Following the destruction of the task force's flagship, the remaining ships were reassigned elsewhere in the Republic navy.
