  • The Jedi Code was the guiding principle of the Jedi Order, though it also referred to a mathematical equation intended to explain The Force.
  • The Jedi Code is a code that establishes the appropriate behavior of all Jedi. The code itself has changed in style and appearance over generations, but the general meaning of it has stayed the same.
  • The Code was as follows:There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no death, there is the Force. The Sith Code is nearly the opposite of the Jedi Code.
  • [[Afbeelding:OdanUrr.jpg|thumb|Master Odan-Urr]] thumb|De Jedi Code Quote: "A Jedi Master always said this to each of his students before their first lesson: Cross an unfamiliar river without first discerning its depths and shallows, and you will drown in its currents without reaching your goal. Being a Jedi is no different. Identify the pitfalls and learn the proper path, or you fail the Order and sacrifice yourself to no good purpose." -- Jedi Master Odan-Urr
  • Amongst other dictates, the Jedi Code forbade Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters from taking on more than one Padawan at a given time; and forbade Jedi from forming attachments, such as marriage, and other specific, individual bonds, such as family and romantic love. Few understood that this practice of nonattachment did not mean the Jedi were strangers to compassion when, in fact, they believed that all lives were precious. The code also forbade the Jedi from killing unarmed opponents as well as seeking revenge.

Gedurende millennia hadden veel wijze Jedi de Code aangepast en verfijnd, tot een ethische code waarmee de Jedi zich verdedigden.

Few understood that this practice of nonattachment did not mean the Jedi were strangers to compassion when, in fact, they believed that all lives were precious. The code also forbade the Jedi from killing unarmed opponents as well as seeking revenge. During the Clone Wars, there were those in the Grand Army of the Republic, such as Wilhuff Tarkin, who believed that the Jedi Code prevented the Order from doing what was necessary to win the war against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Shortly before the end of the Clone Wars, the Jedi High Council, through Obi-Wan Kenobi, asked Anakin Skywalker to spy upon the activities of his friend Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, something which Skywalker felt was against the Jedi Code.
