Elimination is a variation on dodgeball played with only a single ball. Instead of one ball contact anywhere on the body making the player "out," the body is divided into separate regions. A ball contact in any region means that region may not be used. For example, if the ball contacts one's leg, that leg must not be used (by hopping around only on the remaining leg, provided it too has not been contacted by the ball). The goal to eliminate a player from the other team is to contact the ball either in the chest or back (representing the heart). A contact to the head means the player must play blind (typically by closing their eyes). If the ball is caught, the catcher declares which (remaining) body part, except for the heart, the thrower may not use. In another variation, the heart is not

In another variation, the heart is not off-limits, thus catching the ball makes the thrower "out."
