Smash was the sensei of the Slash For Cash Gym and leader of the Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang. Prior to Shredder's introduction, he operated a disreputable dojo, and his students were of poor character. Shredder appeared and threatened Smash, who quickly realized Shredder's ability and surrendered control of the dojo, becoming the second sensei under Saki. Much like he had done in his native Japan after deposing his old sensei Hamato Yoshi, Saki trained the human students in Foot Clan style martial arts in order to be able to commit crimes. Shredder appeared and threatened Smash, who quickly realized Shredder's ability and surrendered control of the dojo, becoming the second sensei under Saki. Much like he had done in his native Japan after deposing his old sensei Hamato Yoshi, Saki trained the human students in Foot Clan style martial arts in order to be able to commit crimes. When the students perfected Foot Clan moves, Shredder pronounced them ready for action as the Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang in order to ruin the already-shaky reputation of the real TMNT. Smash would act as the street leader, and gave each of the students a crude Turtle outfit as the gang uniform "when we strike". Shredder endorsed this by replying "And strike we shall!" After committing some robberies, the Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang confronted the TMNT. After defeating the gang members, the Turtles trapped Smash in a device similar to a pillory used to punish prisoners in Colonial America. Smash was last seen telling the Turtles Shredder is waiting for them at the Slash for Cash Gym.
