To execute the technique, one or more users must create an area and encompasses both sides of those they intend to extract souls from. For a large group, two or more users are needed to expand this technique. However, simply placing a hand on the target can extract the soul as well. Once the users are in position, they initiate the technique through handseals. After this is completed, the targets will appear in pain as they writhe and struggle against the jutsu. It will cause the body to stand up or sit up straight with a arced back. Light will remit from the mouth and the eyes and the color depends on the color of the soul. From the mouth, a ball the sized of a ping-pong ball will appear and float upwards slowly. It will then begin to hover there. If the technique fails, it will descend back into the target and the target will regain consciousness. In most cases, the soul is absorbed into an object such as the World Soul Stone or can be sealed away. Once the link between the target and the soul is broken, the target instantly dies. This is done by forcefully removing the soul from the target. This technique is the primary technique for those in Tasogare and it seems that, in order to be in the organization, they must be able to use this technique.
