The crew of the mine largely consisted of slaves of many species which were guarded by Imbats. In 44 BBY, the abducted Jedi Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi was brought to the mine. However, he was able to escape with the help of the Phindian miner Guerra Derida and Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. After the Jedi had deactivated the locking devices which kept the slaves under the control, the revolted successfully.
