On 15 September 1981, Peel played Rolf Harris' 'War Canoe' song to show how the track sounded very much like Adam And The Ants' 'Prince Charming', which was a big hit around that time. Peel enjoyed very much of Rolf's live performances and on one article he wrote himself that was published on Olivetti Chronicles, he regretted missing one of his performances after arriving late to see him play.

  • Rolf Harris, AO, CBE (born 30 March 1930) is an Australian-born, British-based entertainer. He is a musician, singer-songwriter, composer, painter, and television personality. He has lived in the UK for more than five decades, residing in Bray, Berkshire.
  • Rolf Harris is a UK host.
  • An Australian "entertainer" (not). Rolf has a huge beard and glasses. He plays the didgeridoo, which says everything in my book. He sadly has had a number of hit records, which means he is never off TV and will not go back to Australia. (His "records" are called "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport," etc....)
  • Rolf Harris, not to be mistaken for ROFL Harris, Rolf or Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer, is the notorious London east end crime lord and a lookalike for Col. Sanders, as well as a part-time wobbleboard player for Pearl Jam and full time drummer for Nickelback. He is also the half brother of famed pianist Leon Fleisher, his elder brother Raj Rofl Harris emigrated to India instead of England where he went on to record a song about religious harmony aimed at the uncomprehending baby market.
  • Born in Perth, Western Australia, Harris was a champion swimmer before studying art. He moved to England in 1952, where he started to appear on television programmes on which he drew the characters. He also began a musical career initially with the piano accordion. He wrote the famous song "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", and when performing in Canada he introduced his popular routine Jake the Peg. He often uses unusual instruments in his performances: he plays the didgeridoo, has been credited with the invention of the wobble board, a rhythmic percussion instrument, and was associated with the Stylophone, a small electronic keyboard instrument.

In late 2005 he painted an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was the subject of a special episode of Rolf on Art.

Rolf's life of crime finally caught up with him in June 2014. He was found guilty for being a showbiz sex pest nuisance for the last 40 years and will be transported back to Australia in chains with a cabin full of angry kangaroos for company.
