The Cone of Silence is a gadget used by CONTROL. In the episode "A Tale of Two Tails," it was mentioned that the Cone of Silence was invented by a Professor Cone. It has never worked properly, but Max sometimes asks to use it when he feels that the subject he and the Chief are talking about is Top Secret. It is a clear plastic contraption consisting of two domes with a rectangular box in between. When activated, the Cone of Silence lowers itself onto the Chief's desk, covering the speakers on either side of the desk. Usually, the Chief and Max are unable to hear each other.

  • The Cone of Silence is a distorter field that limits the carring power of any voice or vibration y damping the vibrations with an image-vibration 180 degrees out of phase. From inside a Cone of Silence, any sound outside the cone can hardly be heard and any sound inside the cone can hardly be heard from the outside.
  • A Cone of Silence is a field or zone wherein the sound of the human voice was electronically distorted so that recording and amplifying devices could not reproduce it effectively or clearly. It was also referred to as a "sound-deadening field". The size of a "cone of silence" depended partly on the strength of the electronic impulse broadcast, but for practical purposes it was usually a small area about three to four meters in diameter.
