Choices cover virtually all phases of model aircraft including scale, ducted fan and 3-D. Construction is of foam or built-up balsa. The company is currently marketing two of the most popular models in R/C. First is the Blade CP micro-R/C electric helicopter. Retailing for less than US$300, this ready-to-fly model operates via a sophisticated four-in-one receiver/ESC/mixer/gyro which mixes both collective and pitch. An upgrade kit featuring semi-symmetrical rotor blades, a more powerful 370-class electric main motor with smaller drive pinion and heatsinks for both the main and tail rotor motors allow fully aerobatic 3-D flight. The Blade CP Pro adds many of the original's upgrades as standard equipment. The Blade CX micro-helicopter, which retails for slightly less than the CP, features counter-rotating coaxial main blades. This system eliminates the need for a tail rotor and makes it far easier to hover, even for those who have never flown a model helicopter. However, control response is far less responsive than that of the CP. The CX has proven to be so popular that it is often on back order in most areas. Both are constructed of carbon fiber and composites, a first for helicopters in this price range. E-flite's newest models are both fixed wing. The P-47D Thunderbolt 400 is the brand's first scale warbird and the Super Airliner is a large-scale ducted fan passenger jet. Both are constructed of injection-molded foam.
