"Africa" is a song by rock band Toto, and one of the band's most recognizable songs. It was included on their 1982 album Toto IV, and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in February 1983 and number three on the UK Singles Chart the same month. The song was written by the band's keyboardist/vocalist David Paich and drummer Jeff Porcaro. On May 17, 2013, the song re-entered the New Zealand singles chart after a 30 year absence, to reach a new peak of number 5, after it peaked at number 8 on November 14, 1982. Even better success was attained on the New Zealand iTunes digital chart, where "Africa" reached number 1.
