Meanwhile, just outside of Mario's House, Mario is walking near Princess Peach when all of the sudden Bowser jumps down in front of them. Mario proceeds to battle and defeat Bowser, who is about to leave when Illusion appears and steals Peach. He flies far away from Mario's House and Bowser chases him on the ground, leaving Mario to wonder what to do. He heads into his house to prepare and when he comes back out there is a Toad waiting for him. The Toad gives Mario the basic tutorials on battles, items, maps, and moving around. After defeating the sample battle, two goombas, Mario heads on to Mushroom Valley.
