Catigern or Katigern (in Welsh Kyndeyrn) is the second of the three elder sons of Vortigern given in the Historia Brittonum. Catigern is to have died in the same battle as Horsa, the brother of Hengist. Geoffrey of Monmouth in his Historia Regum Britanniae claims both Catigern and Horsa died in a mutual single combat. The name is corrupted to Vortiger in Wace’s Roman de Brut.
