The Vice Presidency of the United Republic of Ireland is the second highest office in the United Republic of Ireland. Unlike the President who is elected every seven years, the Vice President is elected every two years and can have a maximum of two terms as Vice President. The Vice Presidents official residence is in Dublin and it is named after James Connolly. The President can remove the Vice President from office at any time if he/she deems it necessary although this has never happened.
