Futeki was a carpenter heavily muscled and tough. He lived in the village beside Kosaten Shiro. In the late 12th century the governor Daidoji Sokazaka had suddenly raised the taxes, and the unrest among the peasants was rampant. Futeki considered unreasonable his lord's demands, becoming the leader of his fellow peasant in an impending revolt.
