Lightflyers are Luminoth maintenance drones that look like clouds of shimmering light. Lightflyers were designed to be simple cleaning units, but they have gone rogue since the Ing invaded Aether. Like most rogue Luminoth mecha, Lightflyers are openly hostile to anything organic, which they now perceive as filth. They attack with a quick energy bolt that can momentarily stun its target. Since their bodies are mostly made up of energy, they are easily destroyed with concentrated fire. If one is killed on Dark Aether, it generates a temporary Safe Zone, which dissapates after the Lightflyer reforms itself.

  • Lightflyers were planetary vehicles that moved via anti-gravity technology and flew instead of hovering just above the ground like ground cars and or rolling like traditional wheeled vehicles. Lightflyers are ubiquitous in the Vorkosigan Saga.
  • The Lightflyer is a security artificial bioform created by the Luminoth. At some undetermined point, they became rogue like most mechanized objects. However, the Lightfliers did not turn to serve the Ing like the majority of mechanoids; instead they attack all living beings that approach them. The only function they now possess is to protect various religious sites with great importance to their original creators. Upon sensing an intruder, they would attack with a bolt of electricity, slowly draining its life.
