The Provisional Government of Qatif (Arabic: الحكومة المؤقتة القطيف) was an unrecognised self proclaimed state located in the western region of Qatif. It was formed at the offset of the Qatifi Civil War by Sunni Ba'athists and Islamists with support from Iraq in opposition to the Qatifi government following an upsurge in sectarian tensions. Initially led by a coalition of former Ba'athists, Islamists and pro-democracy activists, by the time of its dissolution tit was controlled by the Islamic Liberation Army, a Wahabist group. The regime was hevaily dependent on Iraqi and Saudi Arabian aid.
