Joe Gladwin (22nd January 1906 - 11th March 1987) was a British actor best known for his long-running situation comedy roles, as Stan Hardman in Nearest and Dearest from 1968 to 1973, and as Wally Batty in Last of the Summer Wine between 1975 and 1986. On Coronation Street he appeared in February 1961, March 1963, July 1964 and February 1966 as Fred Jackson, owner of Jackson's Chip Shop. Joe's other credits include The Prisoner, The Onedin Line, All Creatures Great and Small and Street spin-off Pardon the Expression.
