  • Peter's history is exactly the same as that of Earth-616's Starlord up until the Marvel NEW! relaunch. Quill fought alongside Corsair in the Chitauri/Shi'ar war and it was because of this that the two became very fond of each other. Since him and his fellow Guardians disbanded due to his wife, Gamora's death, Quill has been searching for a friend for a while. In the final battle between the two races Corsair sacrificed himself to show the races how silly their fight was. Quill took his death very hard and realized that he reacted horribly to Gamora's death. If he didn't disband the Guardians Corsair would have survived. Because of that he blames himself for his death and takes his title, becomes leader of the Starjammers and reinstates the Guardians of the Galaxy with new, stronger members.
