Norman was born in a litter of five, his litter-mates were VJXP031, Bungee(VJXF032), VJXM034 and Cheesy Puff(VJXF035). Diana gave birth to a new litter in February, by then Norman was old enough to fend for himself. Soon he and his two remaining sisters survived through their first year. Norman started to babysit the pups and help with sentry duties while the JaXX were out foraging. However a drought began in late 2011 making it difficult for the females to raise litters. His sister Bungee started to mate with rovers and be evicted, while Cheesy Puff avoided rovers and eviction. In July 2012 Norman went roving for the first time with the older males of the group. In October Norman went roving again while his sister Bungee gave birth to a litter of pups. He helped with the pups when he retuern but when roving again in the following month. In November Norman he went roving and was considered Last Seen when he failed to return to the group.
